Helping You Achieve Your Health Goals
The Wellness Group is at the forefront of the health and wellness industry which is worth over £300 billion a year worldwide and is set to reach over £1 trillion over the next 4 years. Wellness can be described as ‘the process of becoming aware of and practicing healthy choices to create a more successful and balanced lifestyle’.
One of reasons for the phenomenal growth in the health and wellness industry can be traced back to the 1940’s when all the food produced was organic and was produced by traditional methods that had evolved over 200 years. Because of this everyone ate fresh, raw natural foods that were in season and contributed to a balanced diet. However, today because of soil depletion, which is the result of intensive farming methods, use of pesticides and the fact that farmers are no longer adopting soil rotation, (which helps keep the soil from becoming wasteland), the food we eat no longer has the same nutritional value it did 60 years ago. Also, because of the need to produce food quicker and in larger quantities we are eating more and more processed food with ingredients that would best described as not beneficial for a healthy and balanced diet.
Today, to maximise profits, most farms don’t perform the required soil maintenance and simply add NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) to the soil. This makes the plants grow full of calories, water and fibre but void of the complete nutrition your body needs. An example of the deteriorating nutritional value in food can be found in the fact that there is 60% less iron in spinach today than there was 50 years ago.
Nutritional deficiencies can cause children to develop illnesses in later life and it is estimated that 38% of all cancers are caused by nutritional deficiencies. In the USA, the World Health Authority has stated that 12.4% are starving through nutritional deficiencies in their diets. With this in mind The Wellness Group is able to offer a range of nutritional supplements specifically targeted at children. What you have to accept is that children are always going to eat and drink food that is generally not good for them. Therefore, it makes sense for them to take supplements to help them with their daily dietary requirements.
The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), the respected publication stated (vol. 287 no.23 - 2002) in its scientific review Vitamins for Chronic Disease Prevention in Adults that: ' inadequate intake of several vitamins has been linked to chronic diseases including coronary heart disease, cancer and osteoporosis'.
